Director and Arts Consultant: Amy McGann
JSM deliver dance projects and workshops directly with young people. JSM’s training programme has received emphatic feedback. Training supports companies and schools to ensure that they have high quality dance delivery, including lesson and scheme planning, assessment, tracking progress and managing a range of needs and abilities. The company have contracts with a range of schools and Enfield Council (utilising schools’ sports premium funding). The company deliver the training for Studio Wayne McGregor, CandoCo, Akademi, Laban DTAL and Richard Alston Dance Company.
JSM’s consultancy arm is delivered directly by Amy McGann. Amy trained and then toured as a professional dancer for a number of years. Amy has had over 15 years experience in performance, teaching and management. She has taught in schools, colleges, universities, arts centres, prisons. Amy has worked for a number of professional companies delivering their education programme including; Studio Wayne McGregor, Theatre Rites, Protein Dance. Her experience led to her becoming an Education Project Manager at The Place before working as an Arts Consultant for Camden’s School Improvement Service. Amy has extensive experience in curriculum design and is now supporting schools nationally in their Artsmark applications and leading on the development Local Cultural Education Partnerships in Local Authorities in Yorkshire and London. LCEP’s are a key in the Arts Council’s Cultural Education Challenge agenda.
Amy is currently part of the One Dance UK 2016 mentoring programme working with Lizzie Crump from Cultural Learning Alliance and Southbank Centre.
